Llanidloes Res 1
The league leaders Llanidloes Reserves were the visitors on Saturday, they had played five won five and had a goal difference of +22, so on paper a very difficult looking game. The Reserves looked good and were unfortunate to go a goal down after 25 minutes. But they managed to pull level six minutes later when Bryn Jones sent in an in swinging corner which somehow found it’s way straight into the net. Both sides had chances to add to the scoreline, with goalkeeper Rhys in outstanding form to keep the visitors out whilst Steve Tomkins and Lee Dutton had chances saved at the other end. All in all a draw was a fair result.

Waterloo Colts 1
This was one of those games where nothing went right for the Reserves. Having fallen a goal behind early on they failed to get back on level terms despite dominating the game. Numerous chances fell by the wayside before the visitors grabbed a late second goal to rub salt in the wounds. Waterloo goalkeeper Danny Smith deserves a mention after pulling off some outstanding saves to keep the Reserves out.

Churchstoke 4
The reserves pulled level in the dying minutes in this eight goal thriller. Lee Dutton give the Reserves an early lead before visitors Churchstoke struck back with two quick goals the second by their man of the match Jamie Davies who slotted home from close range. Manager Dave Humphreys, making a rare start, scored the equaliser in spectacular “Ronaldo” fashion when he hit a 30 yard free-kick straight into the top right hand corner with the keeper rooted to the spot. It was to and fro then, Churchstoke took the lead again but Gary Richards got our third, and Dale Jones used his pace to break down the right before hitting a shot on the half volley goal wards, the ball took a slight deflection as it made it’s way into the net past the keeper.

Newcastle Emlyn 1
Llansantffraid Res 2
Along trip to Newcastle Emlyn was rewarded with the Reserves winning and going through to the next round. Manager Dave struggled for a side due to injuries and unavailability’s but managed to get a squad together. Mark Hall and Dan Hughes started their first games and both played their part, Dan Hughes especially, who was unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. After a goal less first half Steve Tomkins eventually made the breakthrough to give the reserves a deserved lead 15 minutes into the second half. Bryn Jones made it 2-0 15 minutes from the end before the home side grabbed a late consolation goal. A good win for the reserves who controlled the match from start to finish.

Llansantffraid won 4-3 on penalties
A good game which neither side deserved to lose. Bryn Jones give the Village the lead before the visitors edged ahead 2-1. Steve Tomkins grabbed our second to send the game into extra time. The visitors led for almost all of extra time before a late equaliser came from an unlikely source when Ed Williams headed home in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shoot out. Bryn Jones, Jack Jones, Aaron Poole and Dale Jones all converted their spot kicks while the visitors missed theirs so Ed didn’t have to take his.

Kerry Reserves 0
Llansantffraid Res 5
The Reserves made eight games without defeat with this 5-0 win over Kerry Reserves. The score could have been more emphatic but for some bad luck and some good saves by Kerry keeper Ryan Andrews. Bryn Jones had the chance to get the Reserves off to a flier in only the second minute from the penalty spot, but unusually for him he missed. Top goal scorer Steve Tomkins gave the Reserves a 2-0 half time lead when he grabbed a brace to take his tally for the season to 11. Aaron Poole scored the third ten minutes into the second half and substitute Lee Dutton grabbed the fourth ten minutes from time. Rising star Dan Hughes hit the fifth five minutes from time. Dave has a wealth of good promising young players and experience in his side and it’s looking good for them for the rest of the season.
